INDUSTRIAL SYMBIOSIS KAMOURASKA & CIRCULAR ECONOMY

INDUSTRIAL SYMBIOSIS ...RETHINKING BUSINESS RELATIONSHIPS

It means building a network of synergies between companies and organisations in a given area to sustainably increase their economic, environmental and social performanceindustrial symbiosis. By extending the life cycle of resources while respecting the 3RV hierarchy (Reduction, Reuse, Recycling/Composting, Recovery), symbiosis promotes more efficient and environmentally friendly approaches. Through the links it creates in the industrial, social and economic fabric of a region, this circular economy is also a concrete tool for sustainable development.

INDUSTRY INSIDERS

Led by the Société d'aide au développement de la collectivité (SADC) du Kamouraska and supported by local ambassadors and partners, this project marks one of the first steps toward a circular economy model in Kamouraska. "The success and sustainability of the approach depend on the participation of businesses and the collaboration of stakeholders at all stages of the project, which is why the SADC has surrounded itself with ambassadors: Bombardier Transport, the La Pocatière plant, La Compagnie Normand de Saint-Pascal and the Le Mouton Blanc de la Pocatière cheese factory," said Brigitte Pouliot, Executive Director of the SADC du Kamouraska.

"The circular economy is an economic concept whose objective is to produce goods and services while limiting the consumption and waste of raw materials, water and energy sources," says project coordinator Émilie Dupont. It is therefore a long-term intersectoral project that begins today and aims to implement a new development model centred on efficient management of material and energy flows.

SYNERGIE QUÉBEC COMMUNITY

By joining the Communauté Synergie Québec, the SADC and businesses in the region will be able to benefit from the experience and expertise of the Centre de transfert technologique en écologie industrielle (CTTÉI) and other member symbiosis projects such as Bécancour, Lanaudière and Brome-Missisquoi. Circulab's tools and business game can also be used to raise awareness and build action plans in project organizations!
