As a direct result of growing sales, two new employees joined the Industrial Ecology Technology Transfer Centre (CTTÉI) team in the last month. On the laboratory side, Phousadavanh Chounlamany came to fill a laboratory technician position that has been vacant since last April. Mr. Chounlamany is a graduate of the DEC in Environment, Hygiene and Occupational Safety at the Cégep de Sorel-Tracy. He has been living in the region for several years now and wanted to redirect his career from the hotel industry towards sustainable development.

On the research side, Youssef Benarchid is a chemist with a PhD in materials science and a specialization in mineral chemistry. His fields of expertise range from concrete formulation to the valorisation of mining residues and other industrial minerals. With several years of research experience in Abitibi, France and Morocco, Mr. Benarchid will be called upon to support companies in their innovation needs.

The CTTEI is an applied research centre affiliated with the Cégep de Sorel-Tracy. Its mission is to improve the performance of businesses and communities through research and development of innovative approaches and technologies in industrial ecology. In addition to carrying out numerous R&D projects aimed at finding innovative outlets for industrial residues, the CTTÉI leads the Synergie Québec Community of Practice to co-create tools and develop expertise to operationalize and build a more circular economy.
