Sorel-Tracy, December 15, 2025 – industrial symbiosis Saurel announces the opening of a permanent maple syrup tubing drop-off point at the Domaine Clovis store, located at 1450 Boulevard Fiset in Sorel-Tracy. This initiative, eagerly awaited by many maple syrup producers in the region, will allow them to dispose of used tubing free of charge during store hours.

The establishment of this service is the result of a collaboration between Développement économique Pierre-De Saurel (DÉPS), the Centre de transfert technologique en écologie industrielle (CTTEI), the MRC Pierre-de-Saurel, and AgriRÉCUP, which assisted the entrepreneur in developing the logistics for the collection point. Until now, the closest options were in Acton Vale and Saint-Hyacinthe and were only accessible two days a year. The arrival of a permanent depot in the Pierre-De Saurel RCM therefore represents a significant advantage for companies in the maple syrup industry.
Maple syrup producers are invited to consult AgriRÉCUP's official guidelines on preparing tubing before disposal, particularly with regard to pins, fasteners, and accepted types of tubing. Complete information is available at: https://agrirecup.ca/materiaux/tubulures.
" This initiative shows how companies and organizations in our region can implement concrete solutions when they take action. Providing a permanent drop-off point for maple syrup tubing is a simple gesture that has a real impact on reducing the amount of material sent to landfill, " says Claude Maheux-Picard, Executive Director of CTTEI.
" The Pierre-De Saurel RCM is delighted to see a new service that helps extend the useful life of materials and supports responsible resource management. This project fully reflects our commitment to promoting circular practices throughout the region," said Vincent Deguise, Prefect of the Pierre-De Saurel RCM.
" We received several calls from maple syrup producers who were waiting for the official opening to come and bring their tubing. There was a real need in the region, and we are happy to meet it," says Guy Cloutier, owner of Domaine Clovis.
The opening of this drop-off point is part of the industrial symbiosis Saurel industrial symbiosis initiative, which aims to foster concrete partnerships between businesses to recover residual materials, increase the region's resilience, and support a circular economy. This project is partly funded by the social innovation initiative of the Ministry of Economy, Innovation, and Energy (MEIE), the City of Sorel-Tracy, and the Pierre-de-Saurel RCM.
