Pedro Ramirez, Project Manager, and Jean-François Vermette, Scientific Director, will present a conference during the week of 8 April at the University of Castilla-La-Mancha in Ciudad Real, Spain, which is hosting the event. 17th European Meeting on Supercritical Fluids (EMSF 2019) - 7th European Meeting on High Pressure TechnologyThe conference will include a full week of conferences and networking sessions on supercritical fluids. This event will be attended by several universities and research centres from around the world, including CTTÉI, which is working with the hydrothermal oxidation and supercritical CO2 extraction component.
The CTTÉI will present a conference entitled : Quick methodology to conduct prefeasibility studies on Wet Air Oxidation (WAO): case of municipal sludge treatment at Sorel-Tracy (Quebec) at this event; it is a methodology that allows to quickly obtain an order of magnitude of the costs of industrial implementation (CAPEX/OPEX), and thus accelerate the technology transfer of this clean process. The case chosen to illustrate this methodology corresponds to wet oxidation studies on municipal sludge from Sorel-Tracy.
NSERC, the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada, the City of Sorel-Tracy and 7 other industrial and institutional partners are supporting this major research project of the CTTÉI, which is now entering its third year of five-year funding. In addition, the PADRRC, Programme d'aide à la diffusion des résultats de recherche au collégial, has allocated financial assistance to the CTTÉI to cover part of the travel expenses for this mission.
Congresses and conferences, in Quebec and abroad, are part of our mission as an applied research centre. These events also allow us to meet potential partners and collaborators in order to pursue projects or initiate new activities at the CTTÉI.
As part of this business trip, the CTTÉI has decided to make a donation to Boreal Carbon to offset the emission of gases at greenhouse effect of the flight to Spain by tree planting (47 trees will be necessary in this case). http://carboneboreal.uqac.ca/accueil/
