Sorel-Tracy, September 28, 2020 - As the CTTÉI entered the final year of its 2015-2020 strategic plan in the fall of 2019, no one could anticipate the events of spring 2020.

Fortunately, a well-filled project book and the rapid return to the laboratory after only a month and a half of closure allowed the year to close with a profit.

It is therefore with great pride that the Board of Directors and Management are releasing today the 2019-2020 Annual Report of the CTTÉI. It highlights the fact that all objectives were exceeded in this last year of the five-year plan.

An excellent record 2019-2020

Revenues increased by more than 20%, approaching $3 million. Private revenues continue to rise. Symbiosis projects are being rolled out at high speed. A growing number of professors and students at the Cégep de Sorel-Tracy are joining research projects. Finally, the CTTÉI is increasingly occupying the media space by sharing its expertise. The CTTÉI can therefore look forward to the next five years with enthusiasm. It intends to strengthen its visibility and pursue its mission throughout Quebec.

New fields of expertise have been developed, such as the recycling of lithium-ion batteries, the recovery of agri-food residues and entomoculture, allowing the implementation of no less than 25 new products and processes. A record!

Thanks to the support of private and government partners, a technology platform unique in Canada will soon become operational at the CTTÉI. This infrastructure will make it possible to study and make state-of-the-art technologies for the treatment of organic effluents and residues available to companies.

Favourable outlook

This major investment and an assumed shift by governments towards the circular economy will certainly put clean process expertise at the heart of the Centre's future activities. They point to many other projects of importance to the CTTÉI.

The pandemic has increased awareness of the health and environmental impacts of human activity. Despite the new issues that we must take into account, a context and policies favourable to green recovery and the extension of the CTTÉI's expertise are emerging.

The employees, administrators, members and partners of the CTTÉI will be there, better equipped than ever, to take up the next challenges. They invite you to follow the progress of the projects via the various digital platforms.
